Review:

Undefiled

Not another book on sex! While the secular world seemingly lives problem free in the area of sex, Christians seem hung up and trying to stifle urges? Not true – when people disregard God’s agenda for living, there will be consequences. With most Christian books, however, the person struggling in the area of sex is faced with various techniques and strategies for overcoming their problems. However, Harry Schaumburg claims they do not go far enough (and as a result, I would suggest, leave the person tired and often defeated). He shows that the real problem is at the heart level and it is from there that transformation occurs and, as the back cover states, ‘a path to freedom and purity and restoration’ begins, although ‘the way is hard’. We need to align ourselves with God’s agenda for our life. This is not only a book for those who struggle but a resource for every pastor, pastoral worker and counsellor.

HIGH: Reaches the parts that other self-help books fail to reach.

LOW: A number of the seven appendices could be expanded upon.
