Review:

Holy Curiosity

Holy Curiosity will establish its author as a fresh new voice in Christian writing. It is a set of ten engaging think pieces on different aspects of the Christian walk, it is marked by intelligence and vulnerability and some cracking one-liners. For instance, “It’s as hard to absolve yourself of guilt as it is to sit on your own lap,” and “God, wild and unfettered, is completely out of control.”

Winn Collier is at his strongest when writing gently. He points out that Jesus’ apparent rebukes to his followers begin to sound like calls to courage when read in a gentle tone of voice. He writes with great insight about the way some Christians have treated gay people and gives insight into his own spiritual ups-and-downs and wrestling with his own voice of condemnation and perfectionism.

Read this book if you have begun to feel distant from God or if you are feeling bad about yourself. It will give you fresh hope and great insight. Collier is set to be the new Philip Yancey. You heard it here first.

HIGH : This is a book with a big heart and a gentle tone.

LOW: The style sometimes grates and feels too chatty.
