Incomparable: Exploring the Character of God

Exploring the Character of God
Andrew Wilson
Aiming to provide “heavy logs” to fuel worship, this book about God is unashamedly theological. But with some great illustrations and a pacy style, “Incomparable” also makes theological themes accessible to a wider audience. 60 bite size chapters bring biblical descriptions of God to life in everyday language and concepts. Wilson’s turns of phrase inspired me, and his illustrations kept me smiling, and occasionally laughing out loud. This is a great book to dip into, or alternatively would provide two months of fascinating quiet time material, but is a little short on applications to move the worship from mind to heart to life. By his own admission, Wilson is taking on an incomparably enormous subject. However despite the limitations of attempting to describe God in 300 pages, he provides not only an invaluable resource, but also a challenge to re-discover God.
High:
Helpful everyday illustrations.
Low:
Few practical applications.
