Review:

Not Ashamed

Soul Survivor 2009 saw the largest ever attendance (20,000) a remarkable number of hopeful conversions (1,500) and many healings. Central to the entire event was worship, led largely by a new wave of youth musicians (albeit well-known at Survivor), whose worship leading throughout is exemplary. Ben Cantelon offers several of his excellent upbeat anthems as Beth Croft does a couple of gentler (Phil Wickham) covers. Few tunes date prior to 2008, yet many are already UK-wide favourites (eg ‘Adoration’, ‘Jesus Saves’, ‘King of Wonders’).

Disc 2 features six songs from sister event, Momentum. Tim Hughes crops up repeatedly here. A distinctive Soul Survivor edge, momentum and worshipful atmosphere run right through this double-disc. Energetic worshippers won’t be disappointed.

HIGH: Some top-quality worship songs and performances.

LOW: Struggles to stand out from a plethora of similar live praise and worship ventures.
