Review:

Silvertown

C athy Burton’ s third album hits the streets in the shape of Silvertown. There’s plenty here to admire, with some great songs and awesome production. They say that less is more, and thankfully in this case the stripped down back-to-basics approach is just what is needed to give Cathy’s vocals the room they so deservedly need. Musically the album is good and solid, with an excellent line up of talented musicians – but for me the tracks that feature just a guitar and voice have the most impact both emotionally and spiritually.

There’s a real maturity in both song writing and performance, and although this album may not sound as contemporary in its musical approach as Cathy’s previous two albums, its intimacy and openness give the tracks a much greater depth and longevity.

High:

Lone guitar and voice… simply divine.

Low:

The album felt a little short.
