Review:

Unleashed

P lease be upstanding while we sing the weekly rendition of our church anthem - ‘How great is our God’. This song was inspirational the first time, uplifting the tenth time, but now… well, to tell you the truth, I’m bored. Unleashed should hopefully provide a much needed breath of fresh air, as top producer Mark Edwards brings a wonderful blend of catchy dance and pop grooves to some well-known worship songs. Primarily aimed at kids, arrangements are all up and bouncy, but thankfully it’s far from cheesy or cringe worthy; there’s a credible and somewhat addictive cool vibe going on here.

And the acid test: my son and daughter love it, playing it again and again (and again). Does it irritate me? Well, no, actually. Compared to the alternative musical diet of Princess Barbie and Bob the Builder sings Boyzone, I’m more than happy that my children want to listen to such great songs of truth.

High: Tim Hughes’ ‘Whole World in His Hands’.

Low:

One or two less than catchy arrangements.
